This licensed country guest house is situated just 3 kilometres (2 miles) from junction 40 of the M6/A66, offering you a small, luxurious and homely alternative to regular travel accommodation.
Some hotels and guesthouses can be very impersonal and soulless, treating each guest as little more than a name or number. At The White House, we are very different, focusing our efforts on providing a personal and unique service, where all our guests are treated as individuals.
So if you are tired of normal characterless accommodation give us a try and you will not be disappointed.
A licensed non smoking bar is on site and meals are available each evening.
Family Run Licenced Country Guest House set in rural area just outside Penrith and only 2 miles from M6 junction 40 and A66 East and West, making it an ideal stopover location.
All our double , Family and Twin rooms have views over the front gardens and the countryside beyond.
Meals are available from our residents bar between 18:00 and 21:00 with last orders for food at 20:00.
We like to support our local food producers wherever possible and all our bacon , sausages an Black pudding come from Bellas butchers of Shap. Mr Bellas has won awards for his Cumberland Sausage.
We also provide the option of trying locally produced Jersey Milk ( when available ) this is produced by a herd of Jersey cows in the village.
The hotel aims to make your stay an enjoyable one, where you feel at home and well cared for.
There are no strangers here , only friends that we have not yet met.

All of our double, twin and family rooms have views out over the front gardens and the surrounding countryside beyond. We have a variety of family rooms available, the largest of which can accommodate 2 adults and 3 children under the age of 16 years. All of the rooms are comfortable and charming.
Cosy single room with sole use of private bathroom containing a bath with shower taps for hair washing, but not full body shower.
Large family en suite room which will sleep a maximum of 2 adults and 3 children under the age of 16 years. Room is comprised of a double bed, a single bed and a 4-foot sprung sofa bed. it has lovely views over our front gardens and the countryside beyond. The newly refurbished bathroom has a bath with shower taps for hair washing (not full body shower). Please specify amount of guests at time of booking.
This room consists of a fantastic Relyon king-size bed with pillow top mattress and a single bed. This room can be offered as a double, twin or family room. From M6 Junction 40 From north take 2nd exit From south take 4th exit signposted A66 East along dual carriageway to next roundabout take 4th exit off signed A6 Shap. From A66 take 1st exit off large roundabout at Penrith signed A6 Shap. The White House Experience is situated approx 1.5 miles in the village of Clifton we are opposite the entrance to The Clifton Hill Hotel. Taxis are available at railway/ coach station
